THE CREATORS

Wayne Kyle Spitzer and Andy Kumpon from Dead of Night
From Mall Security to SOV Legends (Or so they think)....

Wayne Kyle Spitzer ("Status")

Wayne Kyle Spitzer

Wayne brought a calm, analytical approach to his role as Status, the newer enforcement officer. Though less experienced than his partner, Status serves as the thoughtful strategist—a slender, contemplative figure who approaches interdimensional crises with careful observation and tactical thinking. His measured demeanor balances AK's more aggressive approach to supernatural threats.

Beyond Dead of Night:

  • Author of the novel "Flashback"

  • Director of the acclaimed horror short "Shadows in the Garden"

  • Founding editor of "Dark Horses: The Magazine of Weird Fiction"

  • Continues creating in the horror and sci-fi genres within the literary landcsape

Andy Kumpon ("AK")

Andy Kumpon

Andy's real-world security experience shaped his portrayal of AK, Viktor Corporation's veteran enforcement officer. Hardened by years of supernatural encounters, AK represents the 'punch the monsters in the mouth' philosophy—a seasoned, slightly jaded operative who's seen enough interdimensional chaos to know that sometimes direct action is the only solution. His partnership with the more cerebral Status creates the perfect dynamic for tackling Viktorville's otherworldly problems.

Continued Success:

  • Co-Founder of KillerBeam Entertainment

  • Award-winning filmmaker - "Last Stop Station" won Best Horror at Hollywood Scarefest (2005)

  • Author of the novel "Seeds of the Dead"

  • Continues to create a multiple of genre films and novels

The Creative Partnership:

Working around their mall security schedules, Wayne and Andy created something unprecedented in cable access television. They wrote scripts during downtime, filmed on weekends, and edited at home. Every aspect of Dead of Night was a labor of love that proved passionate filmmakers could create professional-quality entertainment on a shoestring budget.

DIY Filmmaking Innovation:

Ingenious Practical Effects:

  • Hand-held video game repurposed as inter-dimensional scanning device

  • Reading light with taped-off lampshade transformed into talking robot

  • The basilisk: dinosaur model head attached to dryer hose, spray-painted green

  • Frank the spirit guide: melted plastic with fake eyeball glued to it

  • Giant monolith: camera battery covered in black tape, composited with National Geographic forest scene

  • Various creatures: garbage bags, masking tape, and spray paint

DIY Filmmaking Innovation:

So determined were Wayne and Andy to build an audience that they stood on street corners with props and signs, called taverns late Saturday nights to convince bartenders to tune in at 1 AM, and ran a dedicated 'Dead of Night showing room' at INCON, Spokane's local sci-fi convention.
