TOOL: The Lost Episode
"Tool" - A 27-Year Journey to Completion
This release includes "Tool," a never-before-seen episode shot in 1998 but left unfinished—until now. After 27 years, the footage was recovered from deteriorating 3/4 inch and VHS tapes, carefully transferred to digital, and painstakingly edited from Wayne and Andy's original script. This lost episode completes the Dead of Night saga and is available for the first time ever.

The Story Behind the Lost Episode
In 1998, Wayne Spitzer and Andy Kumpon returned to the world of Dead of Night to solve another case. The episode was filmed but never completed due to technical challenges and the creators moving on to other projects. For nearly three decades, "Tool" existed only as scattered footage and a complete script, becoming the holy grail of Dead of Night mythology.

The Restoration Challenge
The restoration process was mostly complete using the recovered footage, in large part with the help of Shea Mossefin, the owner of Black VVideo and Executive Producer for "Tool." Unfortunately, some scenes had been lost to time. Wayne and Andy returned to film new additional scenes in 2025, carefully matching the original 1990s aesthetic and their younger selves as closely as possible. The dedication to authenticity means viewers experience the episode exactly as it was meant to be seen.
What Makes "Tool" Special

This isn't just bonus content—it's an essential piece of the Dead of Night puzzle that reveals crucial information about Viktor Corporation and provides closure to story-lines left hanging since 1997. For the creators, "Tool" represents the ultimate Dead Of Night episode with a story told right. For newcomers, it's proof that great stories find a way to survive, even across decades.
The episode that was lost to time has finally found its way home.
